18th of Ramadan

On the night of the 18th of Ramadan, Imam Ali (AS) came to his daughter, Bibi Umme Kulsoom’s (AS) house for iftar. She (AS) gave him milk and salt from which he said he only eats one thing for every meal. So she took the milk away and gave him the salt with which he opened his fast. The rest of the night Imam Ali (AS) paced throughout the house, but when he came outside to the sehan he looked up at the sky and said “Inna Lilahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Rajayoon!”. The next day, in the morning on his way to Masjid Al- Kufa for fajr, a flock of geese came in Amir Al- Mumineen’s way and started clinging to his abaya, trying to stop him from going because they knew that he would not come back. Eventually the geese stopped and let him continue going to the Masjid. When Imam Ali (AS) arrived to Masjid Al- Kufa he began giving adhan. During this time Ibn Muljim was awaiting for the Imam (AS) with a sword soaked in poison. When Imam Ali (AS) started namaz and went into sajadah, maloon Ibn Muljim came and struck the head of Imam (AS). Within the next few days the poison had fully set in and on the 21st of Ramadan Imam Ali (AS) departed from this world and went back to Allah (SWT) joining Rasul Allah (SAWW) and his beloved wife Bibi Fatima (SA).
