Sons of Hazrat Muslim Ibn Aqeel

Salam Everyone,
Today we will remember the two sons of Hazrat Muslim bin Aqeel, Muhammad and Ibrahim.

When Hazrat Muslim went to Kufa, he took his sons with him, to show that he came in peace. However, shortly after Hazrat Muslims martyrdom, Muhammad and Ibrahim were captured and put in prison.

Eventually, they escaped and were found by a good woman who let them stay in her house. However, her husband, Harith ibn Urwah, worked in the army of Ibn Ziyad and was looking for the children so he could get a reward. At night, he heard sounds coming from the children’s room and went to investigate and found the children he had been looking for in his own house. He took them to the banks of the Euphrates river with his servant and son. When he got there he told his servant to behead the children. When the servant refused, he was killed by Harith. The son was asked the same question and met the same fate as the servant.

After seeing this the children were very frightened, and begged Harith to give them some time to offer their final prayers, but Harith refused and beheaded both of the children and threw their headless bodies in the river. He put their heads on stakes and went to Ibn Ziyad expecting a reward.

However, much to the surprise of Harith, Ibn Ziyad was not pleased when he brought the heads of the children. He ordered Harith to be taken back to the river bank and be executed.
